Sharks prey on large king salmon in the Bering Sea

Fisheries—Research has revealed another potential reason for low king salmon returns in Alaska sharks. University of Alaska Fairbanks researcher Andrew Seitz made the discovery when he noticed some unusual temperature readings from pop-up satellite tags on large king salmon in the Bering Sea.

Fisheries graduate student receives prestigious NSF fellowship

Fisheries—The National Science Foundation awarded two University of Alaska Fairbanks graduate students and a UAF alumnus with its prestigious 2015 Graduate Research Fellowships. School of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences doctoral student Wendel Raymond is one of the recipients.
