UAF offers a minor degree in marine science to provide students majoring in any discipline with a marine science knowledge base and skill set, as well as hands-on experience. Students enrolled in the minor will strengthen their ability to address essential issues related to Alaska's marine environment and resources, whether in research, education, management, administration or industry. 

The minor in marine science requires 15 credits, with 7 credits in core courses and 8 credits in electives from a variety of interdisciplinary fields, as outlined below. The minor in marine science is available to students in all degree programs.
